The knowledge to know how
Are there rules on the format of domains?
When choosing a domain, the following rules apply:
- Domains can only contain alphanumeric characters (a-z and 0-9) and dashes (-), but cannot begin or end with a dash.
- Domains can be up to 63 characters in length.
- All international domains must have a minimum of three characters.
- All .uk domains must have a minimum of two characters - names containing two letters are not allowed (e.g. dr.co.uk) but two characters are permitted (e.g. 3x.co.uk).
